Ricardo is committed to creating a warm, collaborative, and affirming therapeutic environment where clients feel understood and supported. He has experience working with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, and strives to provide culturally responsive care that honors each person's unique experiences and identities. His approach focuses on helping clients develop practical skills, reduce symptoms, build resilience, and improve their overall quality of life. Ricardo provides virtual therapy services throughout New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts and is in-network with multiple insurance plans. He also assists clients in navigating out-of-network benefits to help make specialized mental health care more accessible.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is collaborative, goal-oriented, and grounded in evidence-based treatment. During our first few sessions, I focus on getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and developing a clear picture of how your symptoms are affecting your life. Together, we identify treatment goals and create a personalized plan that aligns with your needs and values. My goal is to provide a supportive and affirming environment while helping you develop practical skills to manage symptoms, build resilience, and make meaningful progress toward the life you want to live. I believe therapy works best when it is both compassionate and active, combining understanding and support with effective strategies that promote lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I carefully choose what evidence based treatment to use for your specific concerns (eg. Anorexia, OCD, Binge eating, Bulimia, disordered eating, trauma, phobias, pain attacks). Our sessions are structured with a clear goal in mind and how we can achieve this goal(s). Treatment is a collaborative effort so you will play an active role in your recovery.

I understand that navigating insurance benefits can feel confusing and overwhelming. If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, I can help you explore and understand your out-of-network benefits. Many insurance plans offer partial reimbursement for psychotherapy services, which can significantly reduce out-of-pocket costs. I provide support with benefit verification, superbills, and reimbursement resources, and I also offer access to tools that can simplify the claims process. My goal is to help make specialized, evidence-based mental health care as accessible and affordable as possible.
