Getting to know Richard Bishop Jr.

I am a licensed professional counselor and a licensed addiction counselor who specializes in: Trauma - I work with people who have experienced long-term childhood or acute trauma, and suffer from ongoing PTSD, anxiety, and or depression, to help them heal. Substance Abuse Recovery - Guiding people with addiction and their families through the recovery process, I use 12-Step Facilitation and other modalities to help addicts build the resources they need for sobriety. LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapy - I help people who identify as LGBTQ+, and those who are grappling with their sexual identity, embody their true self and connect with affirmative communities. Large Life Transitions - Walking with people through overwhelming life experiences, I guide them through the grieving and recovery process, moving out of isolation and into Integration and connection. I use the following forms of experiential, embodied, and talk therapy to support my clients through their healing journey: Brainspotting EMDR Role play Art 12-Step Facilitation Mindfulness in recovery I work with young adults and adults who may be struggling with aspects of sexuality, addiction, trauma/PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Together we reconnect, nurture, and exercise inherent strengths through the cultivation of coping skills, action methods, and community resources.
