Getting to know Rogue Rodriguez

Whether this is your first time, or you are revisiting the idea of therapy, be proud of yourself for taking this positive step towards self-improvement. My goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients. I approach all my clients with empathy, understanding, and encouragement. I view therapy as a collaborative effort, our relationship and trust will help facilitate the change you envision within your life. We will work together on exploring behavioral patterns, emotions, and thoughts. Although I will be guiding our sessions, it is ultimately you that decides the pace. I hope to provide you with deeper insight into the concerns that you have. I primarily work with adults. My approaches include psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I support diverse communities including women, trauma survivors, first-generation Americans, neurodivergent, LGBTQ* and BIPOC. I have a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from Touro University and an Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University. Also, I have a background in the visual arts, so do not be surprised if coloring and drawing are introduced! I offer sessions via telehealth only.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I like for therapy to feel more like a conversation instead of feeling like you're speaking to a screen. Although there are moments when I will sit back and listen, the sessions will be very engaging.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first few sessions can feel more like an "interview" because I will be asking straight forward questions about your life. After I get a general understanding of these aspects, then we will discuss your goals for therapy and how we plan to approach them. You are welcome, and encouraged, to come prepared with topics to speak on, but do not feel pressured if you don't!
