Rory Gerard-Govea, LPC, CMHC, EdM, BS

Psychotherapist
MI
My passion for helping others began for me when I was a Junior at Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan in 1976. That year I took my first of what would be many psychology classes. Later, I landed a work study gig at the counseling center on Kadena AFB as a front desk worker. After working in volunteer positions for 20 years I took the plunge and started my 9-year education journey at Angelo State University. It ended at Portland State University with a Master’s in Counseling Education and a Master’s Certification in Addictions Counseling. My goal is to assist clients by using a variety of skills, experiences, and knowledge such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. I take a practical, solution focused approach to mental health care and addiction recovery. You will find that I am a dynamic, outgoing therapist that offers practical applications and activities to assist in making the changes that you desire.
