Getting to know Rosemarie Verderame

We are living in difficult times. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship issues, or work and career challenges for the first time, or your existing struggles have intensified, you are far from alone. We are all facing unprecedented stress, and even those who never considered therapy before may now benefit from a helping hand. Please know that therapy can help you feel better. I am here to assist you. As an experienced psychotherapist with a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University, a Certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and a Certificate in Relational Psychotherapy from the Stephen Mitchell Relational Study Center, I provide a safe, warm, and non-judgmental environment. Together, we can work short term or long term, in person or virtually, depending on your needs. No matter what issues you face, we will connect the dots to understand how your past influences your present. We will work to alleviate your symptoms and uncover the reasons behind your current feelings and behaviors. Understanding why you behave in certain ways enables meaningful change. Together, we will work to create that change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have always wanted to be a psychotherapist. I took a circuitous route to get here, including time spent as a physical therapist and a restaurant owner, but at my core, I have always wanted to help people. Now, with more than 15 years practicing psychotherapy, I am exactly where I am meant to be, and I look forward to meeting you. My training includes several years of post-graduate psychotherapy work and various certifications, built on my foundation as a licensed clinical social worker. My approach draws from several modalities, including relational, psychoanalytic and behavioral (CBT). I work with adults of all ages and treat a wide range of problems and personalities. I have advanced training in the treatment of depression and anxiety. I specialize in exploring the impact of trauma and stress on individual functioning, and I work with clients to overcome barriers to career, social and relationship success. My therapy style is warm, supportive and interactive. In our sessions, we will work together to identify your underlying beliefs and patterns, as well as past experiences that may be contributing to difficult feelings and situations you are dealing with right now. You will come to understand how your thoughts affect how you act and feel, and you will learn how to think about yourself, your life and your relationships in more satisfying and effective ways.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I strive to ensure therapy is accessible and affordable for all. I am an in-network provider with Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. For out-of-network patients, I will work with you to determine a fair and reasonable fee. I do know how difficult dealing with insurance companies can be, so I will file all necessary forms for you and, once you are an established patient, I will wait for payment from your insurer.

First visit today felt easy, friendly, open, non-judgmental but honest and helpful. Looking forward to seeing Rosemarie again.
Before I began meeting regularly with Rosemarie, I was having nearly daily pangs of anxiety. I was ambivalent about entering into therapy, but Rosemarie's nonjudgmental demeanor and true insight reassured me instantly. Throughout the past few months, Rosemarie has shed new perspective on anxiety triggers that I was both consciously and unconsciously aware of. She has also been incredibly flexible with scheduling and payments. Highly recommend!
Rosemarie is very thoughtful and patient. I was nervous about talking to a therapist and actually cancelled my initial appointment with her after I had booked it. After changing my mind, I rescheduled the appointment and she accepted it immediately. I'm very happy that I decided to see her; she is helping me work through many personal and emotional challenges and I feel that I've made a lot of growth since I started seeing her. I recommend her highly!
