Getting to know Roxanna Alvarado

I believe creating an environment where you feel cared for and safe is one of the best ways to promote and encourage healing. One of my objectives is helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you so that you may better navigate life without feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, confused, or helpless. I strive to create a collaborative space that empowers you to live a life that feels meaningful, connected, and purposeful. I specialize in trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based approaches and have experience working with young adults, adults, and elders in all stages of life. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Using a nonjudgmental stance and unconditional positive regard, we will unpack suppressed emotions, trauma history, relationship patterns, and recurring themes in thoughts/feelings/behaviors that prevent you from feeling like your best self. Together, we will learn about boundaries, grounding skills, and distress tolerance for heavy emotions and thoughts.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

It takes a lot of courage to ask for help and I am ready to provide you with the support you need or want. If you feel ready, I look forward to connecting and beginning this journey with you.
