Getting to know Samantha Rooney

In a city where the pace never slows down, the idea of finding a therapist who actually "fits" what you're hoping for can feel discouraging. I own a small private practice that specializes in working with high-achieving, high-demand professionals in their early 20s to late 40s who feel stuck in life due to various mental health struggles and/or struggle to slow down. My diverse clinical experience has allowed me to quickly assess what treatment approach will most benefit each client. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling and have extensive experience utilizing treatment modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and more. I usually incorporate multiple approaches within each client's treatment. My approach is warm yet proactive and direct so that my clients can best develop coping skills and strategies to improve their symptoms and experience more felt fulfillment in life. I often provide take-home suggestions, handouts, as well as concepts to keep in mind. I pride myself on continuing to update my knowledge and skills based on the latest scientific research. My background has provided me with a unique ability to support clients who have struggled to find effective therapy in the past. I look forward to working with you!

I have seen Samantha at different times over the last several years. She has really helped guide me through tough times including the loss of my sister, marital issues, and work-related stress. She is warm yet professional and follows up to make sure action is being taken to make improvements. Highly recommended.
Samantha is a competent and caring professional who combines professionalism and warmth easily. My sessions with her have been immensely helpful for my mental well-being and personal growth.
Cannot recommend Samantha enough! She is organized, knowledgeable, professional and yet down to earth. Appointments with her are always constructive and leave me with actionable ways to move forward. She's helped me very much in learning to deal with anxiety (and life in general).
I would highly recommend Samantha Rooney. Her vast knowledge and understanding of therapy has helped me progress in my life to places I never imagined I could. Samantha Rooney is both professional and personable. Her active listening, support, and guidance not only allow you to feel heard but leave with new tips to implement. She has truly helped me to transform my mental health in a very positive way.
I have been seeing Sam for the past 4 years. She has been a crucial in helping me work through my anxiety. Sam is caring and very thoughtful in her approach always offering recommendations for actions to take to relieve anxiety and develop healthy habits and recommendations for reading materials outside of appointments.
I have been seeing Samantha since 2018, and she has been my first and only therapist. She really helps you work through any issues you might be having, and helps create a plan for you to get through them. I can confidently say that I am in a better place than I was--I use to bottle up feelings and ignore them, and she helped me slowly open that wound and be in touch with my feelings and emotions. Highly recommend her to anyone looking to start out therapy if you've never had it before. She always makes you feel calm and at ease, and truly listens to everything you say. She is very flexible with her schedule, and I see her bi-weekly. Highly highly recommend her!
I am so happy I was connected to Samantha in January of 2020. She is very respectful, honest, and incredibly helpful. She is one of the great resources I have when I feel like things are out of control. She has given me tools and language that I now use in my everyday life that help me feel more in control of the chaos. I value our sessions and always feel supported on the other side of them.
Samantha is amazing – I cannot recommend her enough! She does an incredible job of making you feel comfortable, creating a safe and inviting atmosphere, and she is always thoughtful and engaging. I was nervous to start therapy, and she instantly put me at ease. I appreciate the exercises she sometimes leaves me with at the end of our conversation, as it challenges me to continue to think about our conversation throughout the week. I always look forward to my sessions with Samantha and would highly recommend her to anyone.
I have been a patient of Samantha for over a year and I cannot recommend her enough. She is incredible at being able to pull out themes in my thoughts and actions where I struggle, give reason to them and find productive ways to overcome them. Whether it's digging deep into past trauma or developing a mindful game plan for something in the future, she has been a consistent source of empathy, reason, and understanding. Talking with Samantha consistently has been a huge resource as I navigate my personal life and has given me a tremendous amount of peace and understanding.
