Getting to know Sarah Hassan

Sarah is a Mental Health Counselor passionate about helping individuals gain clarity, break through limiting patterns, and navigate life with more intention and ease. She has experience working with adults on a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and relationship stress. Sarah also specializes in working with individuals who have experienced sexual abuse, as well as those navigating sexually deviant behaviors, creating a safe, supportive space for meaningful healing and change. As your therapist, I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your emotions, challenge limiting beliefs, and begin to connect more deeply with your core values. I work collaboratively with clients to help them develop insight, cultivate mindfulness, and commit to meaningful changes. My approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic principles, while also integrating the Good Lives Model and mindfulness-based practices to foster lasting growth and resilience.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When beginning therapy with me, I want you to know that this space is for you. My role is to create a safe, supportive environment where you can bring whatever feels important, whether that’s painful experiences, goals for growth, or simply the thoughts and feelings you haven’t had room to share elsewhere. I want you to know that therapy is your time. You don’t have to edit yourself here. My hope is that our work together helps you feel more connected to yourself and better equipped to handle what life brings.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I see therapy as a collaborative process. While I bring training, tools, and perspective, you bring the expertise of your own life. Together, we’ll explore what matters most to you, at a pace that feels comfortable. There’s no “right” way to show up, whether you’re talkative or quiet, clear on your goals or still figuring them out, we’ll start from where you are. It’s also important to know that therapy can sometimes feel challenging. Growth often involves looking at difficult truths or trying new approaches. I’ll be here to support you through that process, offering compassion, curiosity, and encouragement along the way.
