Do you feel overwhelmed by the pressure to be perfect or to keep everyone happy? Do you feel like you're trying to do everything "right" and it's still not enough? Many people struggle with recognizing and voicing their needs due to underlying guilt, anxiety, and fear. I specialize in working with those who identify as 'people pleasers' or perfectionists. Often, these struggles are tied to desire for control and beliefs around who you are and what other's expect. Together, we can explore how to challenge that voice, use self-compassion, and identify your values to help understand yourself and how to obtain the life you want. I help clients dismantle the idea of being 'good' and instead focus on their own values and goals. By exploring both past and present, we work together to embrace mistakes, release perfectionism, and build meaningful, reciprocal relationships. This process empowers you to align your life with your true self.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The decision to start therapy can often be complicated, especially if you are someone that tends to over-think and intellectualize your problems. It’s frustrating when you are self-aware and know all the mental health tips or read the self help books, but you still feel so stuck. The right fit matters in a therapist because you’re not starting from scratch, you know a lot about yourself and what you need! I’m a licensed therapist concentrating on working with people trying to turn their self-awareness into real change. I specialize in people who might call themselves people-pleasers or perfectionists, who see to have it all together but are straining with how tightly they are grasping for control. I bring silliness, warmth, and compassion to sessions while still using direct and honest language to help challenge those stuck belief systems. I know what it’s like to feel like your needs come secondary to others and believe your worth is tied to something external. I want to help you get to a place where you know you’re enough as you are and not because of what you do and that mistakes and imperfections will never define you. I want to help you find peace in the unknown and safety in yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first couple sessions we will explore what brought you to therapy and goals you want to target. We'll discuss how you want your life to change and what would make easier to do so. From there, we will meet weekly or bi-weekly (depending on your needs) and work on challenging old belief systems and difficult thoughts, identifying and processing your emotions, and how to communicate your needs and boundaries.
