I’m Sarah Henderson, LMHCA (she/her) — a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate providing trauma-informed, humanistic therapy for adults navigating identity shifts, trauma recovery, and major life transitions. My work is grounded in safety, connection, and compassion. I specialize in supporting clients in early to middle adulthood and adults 60+ as they work through religious trauma, leaving high-control belief systems, body and sexual shame, and identity exploration. I’m currently pursuing certification in sex therapy to further deepen this work. My approach is client-centered and relational, drawing primarily from Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Rather than focusing on “fixing,” I help you build curiosity and compassion with yourself so that healing feels grounded, paced, and meaningful. Working with me is collaborative, paced, and grounded in compassion. I prioritize creating a space where you feel safe, seen, and affirmed, and where your experiences are honored without judgment. Rather than focusing on “fixing” problems, I support you in developing curiosity and understanding about your inner world so healing can feel more sustainable and empowering. I take a trauma-informed, humanistic approach and draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I value feedback and collaboration, and we’ll move at a pace that feels respectful of your history, boundaries, and goals. I also offer a free consultation so we can explore whether working together feels like a good fit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins by learning about your current concerns, history, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we identify areas to focus on and establish a structure that supports your needs. Sessions often involve exploring patterns, emotions, and internal experiences while paying close attention to what feels manageable and supportive in the moment. Over time, our work may shift as your needs evolve. I regularly check in and adapt our focus to ensure therapy remains helpful, relevant, and aligned with your goals.
