Getting to know Sarah Smith

Hello! It's understandable to feel anxious when seeking therapy as change, even good change, involves facing the unknown. Stress, trauma, and the disconnect from our natural world can negatively impact our mental, physical, and spiritual health. Providing a safe space to explore yourself, process difficult emotions, and learn new coping skills is an important element in working together. Holistic, strengths-based approaches addressing the multiple dimensions of the person, which impact well-being, drive my practice. I encourage incorporating spirituality, mindfulness, and connection to the natural world as part of the healing process. I graduated from Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA, with a Master's Degree in Social Work and have worked in community mental health with acute and persistent mental illness for eight years. Working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss issues, life transitions, trauma, and PTSD has been a passion of mine throughout my career. Specialized experience includes working with issues around aging, death, trauma, social justice issues, climate change fear, and Ketamine- and Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy. During our sessions, we will pull from several modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and nature-based/spiritual interventions. I am trained in Ketamine- and Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy through the Psychedelic Research and Training Institute (PRATI) in Fort Collins, CO, and enjoy working with individuals in integrating experiences of altered states of consciousness. I also hold an End-of-Life Doula certification through University of Burlington Vermont. Please note, I am unable to prescribe or refer individuals to Ketamine providers or psychoactive substances.
