Saundra Kornbluth, LCSW, LICSW

Psychotherapist
NY
My approach is collaborative, empathetic, and strengths-based, adapting to fit the specific needs, abilities, and experiences of each person and family. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism, ADHD, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and learning differences, and I bring that same flexibility and attentiveness to every client I see. A significant part of my work includes family therapy focused on families supporting a neurodivergent loved one, and individual therapy for parents and caregivers to focus on their own needs. My work also extends to adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or processing trauma and managing PTSD.

Getting to know Saundra Kornbluth

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, empathetic, and person-centered. I view therapy as a shared process in which we work together to better understand your experiences, identify patterns, and build skills for moving forward. I aim to create a space that feels grounded, thoughtful, and responsive to your needs. I take a strengths-based approach, meaning we focus not only on what feels difficult, but also on the resilience, insight, and capacities you already hold, supporting meaningful and sustainable change. Family therapy supports families in strengthening communication, increasing understanding, and navigating challenges together. I remain attentive to both the family system as a whole and to each member as an individual, creating space for both shared understanding and individual growth. For parents and caregivers, individual therapy offers dedicated space to focus on their own emotional experiences and needs, separate from their caregiving role.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with a first session focused on understanding what's bringing you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and what feels most important to focus on. This initial meeting provides insight into how I tailor modalities and interventions to best support your needs and the ways you respond to and engage in therapy. From there, early sessions are spent building a shared understanding of your experiences, goals, and the contexts that shape your day-to-day life. We work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that reflects what feels most supportive, including how often we meet and what areas we focus on. When working with families, I focus on communication, connection, and understanding relational patterns, while also holding space for each member as an individual. Please note that insurance verification is completed prior to your first session. Intake paperwork will be sent via Headway once your appointment is confirmed. If you're considering therapy and would like to explore whether working together feels like the right fit, you're welcome to schedule a first appointment.
