What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is one of collaboration, exploration, support, gentle challenging, and encouragement. Working together will be a joint process involving learning techniques and tools to help change your relationship with unhelpful thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviors while engaging in a more meaningful, present and fulfilling life. We may practice making space for the uncomfortable feelings, thoughts, sensations and behaviors so we can learn to discuss, understand and practice acceptance of them as opposed to ignoring or pushing them away. I am trained in psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral tools but much of my current approach is informed by acceptance and commitment therapy which is excellent for treating trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, ODD, ADHD, phobias, anger issues, substance abuse issues, etc. Areas of specialty and focus include: child and adolescent care, the LGBTQIA+ community, family therapy, college students, adult life transitions, gender dysphoria, relationship struggles, and trauma.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session will involve an in depth exploration of your psychosocial history. It is important to get a full sense of who you are as a person, your family history, goals, hopes, and intentions for treatment. We will spend time discussing what you want to accomplish out of therapy and how we can have clear expectations of the steps needed to reach those goals. You will feel listened to, cared about, and truly supported on the brave journey toward self improvement. You will always be able to ask questions and direct the session in whatever direction you want it to go as it is your process of growth and change.
