Scott Silver, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I am a licensed clinical social worker with active licenses in both Florida and New York. For the past 12 years, I have worked at many private detox and rehab treatment centers. I have been privileged to work with people who not only have addiction and substance abuse issues but also present with challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, intimacy, abandonment, LGBTQ issues, and past trauma. I have worked with both young and older populations on all these issues. I primarily draw from the person-centered approach in my therapeutic relationships because I strongly believe in meeting each client “where they are at” and serving as a catalyst for their progress through therapeutic self-discovery to become the best version of themselves. However, since each person is unique and presents different issues, I also employ other therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Additionally, I utilize Narrative, Strategic, and Existential approaches. Different modalities are employed to address specific problems and concerns. As we progress together, I will create a customized and specific approach uniquely tailored for you. My professional background has been quite interesting and has taken a non-traditional path. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a corporate attorney working at a large law firm. At the age of 36, I realized I was no longer happy working in law. I sought a new career where I could help people. With the support of many, I left law and decided to go back to school to become a clinical therapist. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Barry University. It was a risky move-and one that has allowed me to take on a deeply meaningful and rewarding career as a therapist.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
