I like to think of the therapeutic relationship as a road trip: we collaborate to identify goals and objectives for treatment (where are we going), you are driving the car (your life), and I am the passenger reading out navigation (skills), assisting with snacks (encouragement and understanding), and handling climate control (environment for growth and change).
