Has your anxiety become hard to manage, affecting your sleep and draining your life of joy? Are you used to doing everything yourself to avoid asking for help and being vulnerable? Are you managing feelings of overwhelm? If so, you're in the right place. I'm Seta, and I work with professional women balancing family and careers while dealing with anxiety, depression, and overwhelm. I help people move from feeling isolated and disconnected to feeling connected and understood. My clients say they feel more authentic, more connected, and more alive. I have special training in working with fertility and maternity issues, including the IVF roller coaster, miscarriage, and postpartum depression. I also use an evidence-based technique called EMDR to help clients process traumas so they become less powerful. I hold a Master's in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree from Cambridge University. If you're ready for change, contact me through Zocdoc, and we can get the process going.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In session, my clients set the agenda and the goals.   I listen for patterns that can help them understand what is happening on a deeper level, and for underlying causes of pain. I ask questions to clarify.  Therapy is healing. Sometimes the healing is fast, sometimes slow, depending what the issues are and when clients feel ready to address them. Sometimes there is a conflict between the need to feel safe and the desire for change: part of my job is to attune to how clients feel so we can go at a pace that’s right for them. I offer a free 20m consult to see if my skills and how I work match clients' needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I always hold a free consultation so you can see if how I work, my fees, and my availability work for you, and I can see if my skills match your needs. If we seem a good match, we find a time to meet. The first “intake” meeting is a diagnostic session: unlike a normal therapy session, I ask a lot of clinical questions to understand your background and the stressors you’ve been under, and to check for underlying medical issues in case you need medical care.  (For example, thyroid issues can cause depression.) Then we find a good time for regular weekly sessions.  Currently I only have morning availability prior to 10am.
