Hi there! My name is Shannon, and I am here to help you work towards the best version of yourself, whatever that may look like in your current stage of life. We are forever changing and evolving, and it's okay to give yourself the same love and compassion you give to others during these times. I have always felt emotions deeply, and I realize now this is one of my strongest attributes. Feeling emotions deeply allows me to provide an empathetic and client-centered approach to each individual while using humor, challenging questions, and directness. I have experience working in outpatient and correctional settings with adults and adolescents. In both of these settings, I provided individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, and case management services. I utilize a holistic approach with several research-based interventions including CBT, ACT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and DBT. Some of the topics I specialize in are anxiety management, depression, life transitions, addiction, relationship conflict, self-esteem, and communication skills. I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Loras College in Dubuque, IA, in 2019. Later that year, I went on to receive my Masters of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2020. While I enjoyed living in the beautiful city of Chicago, I made the move to Denver, CO (sight unseen!) in 2022. I strongly believe self-awareness is the first step. As you look inward to identify your needs, we will then work alongside each other to develop a collaborative treatment plan to outline your goals and specific strategies to reach them. Don't be alarmed if I send you homework; I believe most of the work in therapy is done outside of our sessions. I provide psychoeducation handouts, journaling prompts for self-reflection, book recommendations, podcast recommendations, and more to encourage continuous self-development. Please reach out if you think we will be a good fit. I look forward to connecting with you!
