Getting to know Shauna Rychcik

Ms. Shauna Rychcik is a dedicated psychotherapist who completed her Master's degree in Clinical Social Work at Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. She provides virtual mental healthcare and support through the practice of Travis Tanner, LCSW. She specializes in assessing, diagnosing, and treating various mental health concerns in a confidential environment. Ms. Rychcik engages her clients by utilizing a compassionate, client-centered approach to partner with them on their journey toward achieving personal growth and healing. Ms. Rychcik utilizes a collaborative approach to devise treatment plans tailored to each client's unique individual needs. She employs evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help her clients achieve lasting positive outcomes.

What should a new client know about working with you?

** Initial appointments are free consultation phone calls with our intake coordinator. On that call, you’ll be able to go over insurance details and get answers to any questions you have. If it feels like a great fit, the intake coordinator will get you scheduled for your first therapy appointment while you’re on the call. ** As a therapist I deeply respect each client’s unique strengths and perspectives. Using a collaborative approach, I walk alongside clients as they heal from painful experiences, empowering them to write the next chapter of their life. Even in life’s most challenging moments, every individual has the capacity to heal and grow. I strive to create a space for this healing that is comfortable and safe where you feel free to express yourself fully and authentically. Rooted in an LGBTQIA+ affirming and anti-racist framework, my approach blends evidence-based practices like cognitive behavioral therapy with a holistic understanding of each person's circumstances. Sessions are tailored to meet individual needs while celebrating and building on your strengths. My goal is for you to feel seen, heard, and supported as you work toward creating a life filled with meaning and fulfillment. With warmth, empathy, and a sprinkle of humor (because let's face it, laughter is the best medicine after all), I aim to connect authentically with clients and trust in their power to reclaim their stories. Together, we can regain control over the narrative and begin a new chapter—a chapter of healing, growth, and empowerment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

** Initial appointments are free consultation phone calls with our intake coordinator. On that call, you’ll be able to go over insurance details and get answers to any questions you have. If it feels like a great fit, the intake coordinator will get you scheduled for your first therapy appointment while you’re on the call. ** In our first session, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where we will start building a foundation for our work together. We will begin by exploring your story in order to better understand your concerns, your personal and family history, and any relevant background information. This helps me get a fuller picture of your experiences and what has brought you to therapy. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions about the therapeutic process or share what you hope to achieve. The first session is primarily about gathering information, but it’s also an important step in developing a trusting therapeutic relationship. It is my aim in this session to facilitate a warm, safe environment where you feel comfortable to share at your own pace. By the end of this first session we will have a clearer picture of your goals as we partner together to embark on your individual journey of healing, personal growth and empowerment.

Great first appointment and have hope for getting the help I need.
When I booked on Zocdoc I selected an in-person appointment for a time after work with a female provider intentionally. However, the initial consultation is over the phone but it was a male who called me and when I asked if my next session would be with the woman I booked with it became apparent that she would not be an option nor would the time slot I had booked. It felt like with this practice they’re using this platform more as advertising but you’re not really booking a real appointment with a specific therapist. The man I spoke with was pleasant enough, I would have moved forward with the practice anyway but they actually had no availability in person with a female doctor that worked with my schedule which is very frustrating when you spend a lot of time searching zoc doc for an option that works only for it to be somewhat false advertising.
