Getting to know Silvia Gonzalez
I use DBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT focuses on helping you clarify your values and live in alignment with what matters to you. I also draw from 21 years of mindfulness practice, including 14+ years of Buddhist practice with numerous extensive silent retreats, to help you recognize old, limiting narratives, process feelings, and develop compassion and acceptance for where you are in your life without judgment
What should a new client know about working with you?
Understanding yourself and why you may be struggling can be confusing and overwhelming. But you are here, so you have found the courage and motivation to change. I applaud you and welcome you.
In a compassionate and understanding space, we can explore what led you to seek therapy. At a pace that feels comfortable for you, we can slowly dive into the narrative of your life and find healthy and supportive techniques to help you navigate what may be troubling you.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
In the first session I will complete an intake assessment to gather as much information to better assess and get to know you, your history, and what concerns have brought you to therapy and therefore set up goals. The following sessions, we will engage in talk therapy while pulling from various modalities to help you achieve your goals. Our sessions are 45 min in length on a weekly basis.
Please allow 15 minutes before the session to do the intake paperwork.
