Getting to know Simona Duque

I’m a queer, nonbinary, Colombian American therapist committed to trauma-informed and anti-oppressive care. Believing in the power of a trusting therapeutic alliance, I aim to create a warm, compassionate, and affirming container where clients feel seen in their authentic selves. Personally understanding the importance of culturally responsive care, I actively engage in cultural humility to best support clients who each come from their own unique set of lived experiences. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Silberman School of Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree from Humboldt State University. My therapeutic approach is person-centered, collaborative, and holistic. My background in community herbalism, nightlife, contemplative practice, and creative expression offers a wealth of experiential knowledge that shapes my integrative approach as a therapist. I draw on mindfulness-based, somatic, strengths-based, and narrative approaches to support clients navigating trauma, systemic oppression, stressors, grief, shame, and other challenging experiences. My practice is informed by liberatory and decolonial frameworks rooted in harm reduction and pleasure positivity. I work with adults and relationships, specializing in queer & trans identities, sexual trauma, BIPOC/PoGM, mindfulness (secular & Buddhist), spirituality, and psychedelic therapy. I offer psychotherapy/trauma therapy, sex therapy, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), and psychedelic harm reduction & integration therapy (PHRI). My practice is kink- and poly-, sex-worker-, and neurodivergent-affirming. I believe healing isn’t linear. It entails practicing self-compassion and attuning to our inner wisdom, which is ongoing—especially in a relentlessly painful and uncertain world. I’m honored to support my clients along this windy, bumpy, yet exquisite path of remembering and reconnecting, toward healing and transformation.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients are asked to complete intake documents prior to our first appointment. The first session will be an intake one where we will expand on the intake questionnaire and I will answer any questions you have for me. After the intake session, I invite clients to self-determine what they want to address at the start of each session.

In-network insurances

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance

Ongoing session: $180-250 for 50 minutes

More information on payments and coverage

We operate as an out-of-network provider. While we don’t bill insurance directly, we’re happy to provide you with the necessary documents for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan allows. Typically, insurance plans with out-of-network benefits cover 40-80% of session costs. You pay the full fee upfront, and we supply a monthly “superbill” for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. We’re here to assist in navigating this process to help keep therapy affordable. To better understand your coverage, consider asking your insurance provider: - Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? - What is my deductible, and how much has been met? - What percentage of the therapy fee is covered? - Is there a session cost limit or maximum per session? - How many sessions are covered per year?
