Skye Ross, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
You know that when you are running on empty, you are a liability. You're an expert at holding space for everyone else, but it feels like your own tank is on empty. My clients are burned out healthcare professionals, therapists, caregivers, and educators. Most of my clients find me because they are tired of "pushing through." You're tired of performing wellness and recommending self care routines to others when you aren't walking the walk yourself. Your time is limited and you need something that works so that you can get back to your life. And you need someone who recognizes systemic harm and how unsupported you feel. Come for crisis stabilization, stay for the deep healing. Meet with me to move from feeling braced and fatigued to softer and re-energized. I am an EMDR-certified trauma therapist specializing in vicarious trauma, burnout, and compassion fatigue in healthcare professionals and therapists. My approach integrates EMDR, somatic psychology, and parts work (IFS). Investing in this hour isn't a luxury; it’s an ethical imperative to ensure you can keep providing high-quality care at work and at home. Meet me to feel taken care of so that you can reconnect with your own needs and humanity.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Most of my patients and supervisees comment on my genuine warmth from our very first meeting. I am in this profession because I care and want to support you in healing from your burnout and compassion fatigue. I've worked for over a decade as a therapist and manager in non-profits and understand burnout and compassion fatigue in my bones. I've supported social workers, therapists, nurses, and physicians through this experience in my therapy practice. My patients go from feeling alone, unsupported, and extremely tired to reconnected to themselves and their loved ones, and energized. Our initial work will focus on immediate support. We'll identify meaningful tools for you to build capacity for connection to yourself and others through difficult emotions and situations. This part of our work is grounded in CBT and DBT and I bring in somatic awareness and practices.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach begins with comprehensive history-taking to identify the core negative beliefs driving your stress response. We don't just talk about the thoughts; we pinpoint how they manifest as physical tension and emotional burnout. By integrating cognitive awareness with somatic processing, I help you create the internal 'breathing room' necessary to sustain your high-level responsibilities without sacrificing your well-being. When appropriate, I'll bring in EMDR to help you process recent or old traumas you're holding.
