Getting to know Stacey Morvitz

I’m Stacey, a licensed clinical psychotherapist practicing virtually. If you’re feeling stuck in patterns with food, body image, or addiction that feel impossible to break, you’re in the right place. Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do this alone—I’m here to help. I’ve spent my career specializing in eating disorders, body image struggles, and addiction, working in settings ranging from residential treatment centers to outpatient rehab facilities. I’ve seen firsthand how exhausting it is to battle these challenges every day, and I know how hard it can be to ask for support. My approach is warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative—because healing isn’t about being “fixed,” it’s about discovering a path that actually works for you. I take a trauma-informed, person-centered approach, meaning we’ll focus on what you need, not some one-size-fits-all solution. I also integrate a weight inclusive approach to help you heal your relationship with food and your body in a way that feels freeing, not restrictive. And if 12-step programs are part of your journey, I’m familiar with that world too. Beyond eating disorders and addiction, I also support clients struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions. My goal? To create a space where you can show up as you are—messy, unsure, human—and work toward a life that feels more fulfilling.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I became a therapist because I’ve witnessed how powerful it is when someone finally is understood, supported, and free from the patterns that once felt impossible to change. For years, I’ve worked in outpatient and inpatient eating disorder and addiction centers alongside doctors and dietitians. I’ve seen how overwhelming it can feel when food, body thoughts, or the pressure to be perfect takes over someone’s life. And I’ve seen what happens when people get real support: space opens up, relationships deepen, and life becomes fuller. I work from a holistic, relational lens, considering all the layers that shape eating disorders, addictions, and other struggles—your mind, your body, your relationships, and the world you move through. In therapy, I aim to create a space where you feel understood, can explore what’s been keeping you stuck, and build the confidence and skills that support a more connected, meaningful life. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. I meet you where you are, and we move forward together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, I’ll take time to get to know you, understand your background, what you’ve been struggling with, and what brings you to therapy. We’ll also begin exploring how I can best support you and what you hope to gain from the process. From there, we’ll typically meet weekly to explore and navigate whatever challenges you’re facing. Sessions are flexible and collaborative, allowing space for whatever feels most important to you in the moment. Some weeks you may come in with a lot to talk about, and other times you may feel unsure where to start—both are completely okay, and we’ll figure it out together. Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar or even intimidating, especially in the beginning. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, supported, and understood as we work through things at your pace.
