“Super helpful, allowed me to explain what I was going through without giving in to negative thought patterns. ”

“Steevy has been an exceptional couples therapist for my wife and me. Her approach made us immediately feel at ease during an incredibly challenging time in our lives. As a trans woman in the first few years of my transition, the dynamic of my relationship was ever evolving and growing while my wife also explored new territory in her queer identity. Steevy always met us exactly where we were, made us feel free from judgment, and equipped us with the skills to not only address issues but also diagnose them proactively in the future. I cannot recommend Steevy enough for LGBTQ+ couples and straight couples alike. We genuinely reached a point in our therapy journey where we would brainstorm issues we could work through even though we actually felt great -- we just always looked forward to our sessions with Steevy and knew some wisdom would come up no matter what was discussed. She left an indelible mark on our hearts and is someone we can truly say made our lives better. ”

Getting to know Steevy Griffin

I don't need therapy, I have you guys! Carrie Bradshaw. Whether your friends or partner(s) have tapped out of being your therapist, or if you just need a fresh, safe space to dive deeper-I get it. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and my main goal is to create an atmosphere where clients feel comfortable, understood, and heard. Most importantly, I want therapy to be a place for you to show up as your authentic self. I love my work because it was an intentional career shift! Prior to becoming a licensed psychotherapist, I enjoyed a 13-year corporate career in global marketing, leading product launches for Snapchat and Disney (hello, corporate burnout!). I utilize my skills in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to guide clients, and I am passionate about working with a wide variety of people, regardless of culture, gender, religion, life circumstance, or sexual orientation. My practice is rooted in empowerment, empathetic healing, and self-awareness, and I strive to bring warmth and humor into my sessions. I hold a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University Campus Center and a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Public Relations from Central Michigan University. I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the New York Marriage and Family Therapy Network.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer kind and affirming therapy for individuals + couples, including, but not limited to: ethical non-monogamy & poly relationships (challenging hetero-norms), breakups (romantic + friendship), healing, sexual identity development, modern app dating (swiping sucks), depression, anxiety, self-compassion/love, corporate burnout, and childfree by choice.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My goal is never to give advice, but to guide you with the right questions and reflection so that you feel confident and empowered owning your own choices. My practice is rooted in intention, so we will create goals together and reflect often so you can see your own progress. We can also observe what isn't working, while honoring YOU with compassion.

She left an indelible mark on our hearts and is someone we can truly say made our lives better.
Before our marriage, we decided to seek couples counseling, and working with Steevy has been an invaluable experience. She is able to understand us both individually, helping us recognize and address past traumas, which has allowed us to grow not only as individuals but as partners. Steevy's guidance has deepened our relationship, both before and after our wedding, by helping us to understand ourselves and each other. Her approach is compassionate, flexible, and professional, and she brings a refreshing energy to each session. Thanks to her, we now have new communication tools that have positively impacted not only our relationship but also our interactions with family and others. The progress we've made since beginning counseling with her is noticeable, and we are grateful for the positive changes she has helped us achieve.
Steevy has been so helpful and integral in my growth and bettering of myself. She has a judgement-free, compassionate and thought provoking approach to our sessions that has worked so well for me. I am so thankful for how helpful she has been to my outlook on my relationships, not just romantic and platonic but my relationship with myself, and cannot recommend her enough!
Steevy is fantastic, attentive, and compassionate. Responded well to schedule changes (freelance worker) when needs arose. She taught me a lot and opened my eyes to some character traits I was unaware of, all the while seemingly without judgment. Highly recommend!
Steevy is an exceptional therapist. I have been working with her for over a year and have made lots of positive progress since. She’s helped me with anxiety, depression, family conflict, and relationships, and has provided me with tools to restructure elements of my life in order to reduce stress and better show up for myself with intentionality. Steevy is compassionate, patient and encouraging and offers a great balance of non judgemental support as well as actionable feedback. She is communicative, consistent and reliable. She is also very knowledgeable, and presents information in a succinct and accessible way. She is great at making important connections and asking difficult questions, enabling me to learn things about myself that I wouldn’t have otherwise.
Steevy has uncanny ability to create a safe, judgment-free space where both partners feel heard and validated. Her empathetic approach, coupled with her sharp insights, allowed myself and my partner to peel back layers of miscommunication and (re)discover our connection. Steevy's therapeutic techniques are both diverse and effective. She tailored each session to our specific needs, and her homework assignments were particularly transformative, giving us practical tools to navigate conflicts and strengthen our bond outside of therapy. Steevy has a gift for gently challenging destructive patterns without assigning blame, fostering an atmosphere of mutual growth and understanding. Thanks to Steevy's guidance, we've not only overcome our initial challenges but have developed a deeper, more resilient relationship than we ever thought possible. Her impact extends far beyond our weekly sessions, influencing how we communicate, resolve conflicts, and support each other in our daily lives.
Steevy is one of the best therapists I've ever had, and I've had a few over the years -- she's curious, compassionate, a deep and attentive listener, thoughtful, generous with her energy, well-read on a range of therapeutic topics and techniques, and full of solid advice in moments when advice is called for. I'm grateful for all the ways she's helped me make positive changes in my life, and I can't recommend her highly enough.
I don't think I would be where I am today if it were not for her help. It was my first time seeking professional help and she made it so easy. Would definitely recommend!
Steevy is absolutely amazing!!!. She was very knowledgeable and professional. Steevy was very easy so talk to and she was very impartial during couple's therapy.
Steeevy was there for me after a break up. At 38 years old, I found myself single yet again. On top of being heartbroken I was feeling lost, confused about my sexuality, and my self-esteem was at an all time low. We worked together for 4 months and I regained clarity. My life is now better than ever before.
Steevy was amazing in helping my wife and I learn to better communicate with each other which lead to us having a better marriage. Steevy helped us understand that we each were trying to say the same thing but would get caught up on how we are saying it and not paying enough attention to what we were trying to say, which helped us clear up a lot of misunderstanding.
Steevy has been a positive therapeutic force in my life for the past three years. I am grateful that Steevy is so easy to talk to and understanding of my diverse family and of many kinds of lifestyles. Steevy is also a good resource for couples therapy, and my wife booked a session with her. I thank Steevy for allowing me to continue therapy with her after she changed to a new practice and worked to get licensed.
Steevy is the best therapist I have ever worked with. I have had a handful of therapists over the past 7 years as I have moved around the country, and she met me as my most volatile season of life. I was dealing with a tremendous amount of loss and change, and have pretty specific needs. Steevy always meets me where I am at and gives me tools to move forward. She is incredible with LGBT+ patients (something I have searched for and needed desperately for years) and does a lot of work in her own time so that I do not have to spend time explaining queer terminology. She also remembers virtually every person I've shared about in my sessions (hundreds), so I never waste time re-explaining (wildly impressive). She is also young and socially aware in a way that allows her to be level headed in understanding the dynamics of a friend group or interaction that requires some nuance. She also allows me and my wife to explore uncomfortable topics in a very safe and supportive way, including things like ethical non-monogamy, yet she never judges whether or not we move forward with any relationship dynamics. My wife is a trans woman, and we started dating prior to her transition and my coming out as well. Steevy has navigated all the large changes in our relationship with absolute grace and care in a way that has really shaped the foundation of our strong marriage. She has helped us navigate very specific situations that require a lot of knowledge, sensitivity, and strength. I could not be more impressed by her!
Steevy is a confident, approachable, knowledgeable, and understanding therapist. She hits all the boxes. Through our sessions over the last 2+ years, my perspective on relationships (intimate, familial, or friendly) has been reshaped for the better. She has helped me make countless aha moments- highly recommend.
Steevy is amazing - she's thoughtful, fun to talk to and provides incredible insights. Just talking to her was quite an uplifting experience. She has helped me through panic attacks, anxiety and pregnancy. Because of her, I am now a much happier and confident person.
