Getting to know Dr. Steven Adelman

About Me My first career was as a soldier and then as an officer in the U.S. Army. It was a great teacher of life and human nature. While in the military, I completed my Bachelor’s Degree and my Master’s Degree in Counseling Services. After retiring from the military, I began doing therapy, mainly with troubled kids. I decided that in order to help more, I needed my doctorate. I studied at Forrest Institute of Psychological Sciences, where I earned my PsyD. I completed my internship and residency, then began my second career as a Doctor of Psychology. I had found my niche and began my journey of helping all ages find their mental health and move forward with their lives. I have spent the last 39 years improving my knowledge and skills while helping others. Professional Experience I am Dr. Steve Adelman, PsyD. I have spent the last 39 years in the mental health field, working with blended families, substance abuse, child advocacy, and trauma victims. I received my Doctorate at Forrest Institute of Psychological Sciences and completed an internship and residency following graduation. I have received extensive education in psychological testing, including MMPI, Rorschach, WISC, and many more. I recently completed my certification for EMDR I and II. I had my own psychology office where I also helped new LCSWs, master-level counselors, and psychology interns hone their skills. I closed my practice in 2019 and moved to Washington. During the pandemic, I began working for Healthy Families, where I worked with traumatized children and adults.
