Getting to know Steven Singer

My name is Steven B. Singer, and I have provided counseling services to adolescents, adults, and families since 1999. Practicing in Stuart, Florida; Winchester, Virginia; Leesburg, VA; and Martinsburg, WV, I have worked with hundreds of clients in need of counseling and substance abuse services. I hold a MEd in Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. With over 31 years of service, I have worked in hospitals, schools, intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. Early on, I spent a good deal of my career in community mental health, non-profits, and public education school counseling. Additionally, I have worked with many employee assistance programs to help employees be their best at work by addressing challenges at home as well as in their employment. I also provided on-site crisis and consultative services to public, private, and non-profit organizations in metropolitan Washington, DC, the Northern Shenandoah Valley, and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. I was often called upon by many employee assistance programs to provide management consulting, employee workshops, and employment orientations. My style of counseling is cognitive-behavioral, which works on problems in the here and now but also explores the past as it is relevant to the presenting problem. I enjoy building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients, and in doing so, can safely explore and process the issues that challenge them. It would be my pleasure to provide you with the tools and strategies to facilitate an improved quality of life.
