Getting to know Susan Bluestone

Due to COVID, please expect a call within 24 hours to confirm your details. If you're unable to make your appointment date or time, please be sure to cancel within 24 hours. My specialties include depression, anxiety, work and personal relationships, communication, and assertiveness training. My style is informal. I am insightful and experienced at uncovering the issues that cause distress. I provide a safe atmosphere to learn the skills and tools needed to make important changes. I am warm and friendly, and with a new perspective, I can help clients achieve their important goals. I accept many insurances and am out of network with BCBS and Aetna PPOs. I can work with a patient’s out-of-network benefits to help meet plan deductibles, which then keeps co-pays low. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York, Albany.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have been in practice for a long time. I love my work and love to see my clients resolve issues that hold them back from experiencing a full and happy life. I use an eclectic approach and will not keep you in therapy forever. I work quickly to get to the core issues , resolve them and send you on your way.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $125 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $90 for 45 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

Loved my visit with Susan. I felt that I learned more in our one session than I have with other doctors in multiple.
Such a thoughtful person who made my first appointment very comfortable. Would go back to her in a heartbeat.
Empathetic and effective. Fair to both of us which is hard to do with couples' counseling.
It was great, she was very informative and insightful. Can wait for our next session.

Very professional, good listener, and analyzer. Liked the way she handled the conversation. Surely going back and looking forward to it!

No wait. She was very attentive, and was a participant in the conversation. She offers input which i liked because i have seen other therapists that dont do that at all and make you work through everything yourself. Susan was very sweet and fun and interactive, i recommend.

It was the first time for me seeing a therapist so I was a little bit nervous at first but right away she made me feel so comfortable and I let everything out that was hurting me so much. Not only that but she actually helped me realize and understand a lot of things I couldn't understand. She was so sweet and I felt so good after talking to her. I totally recommend seeing her if you need someone to talk to.

Susan is always very helpful in putting my concerns in perspective in a way that helps me move forward in my life to make better & more healthy decisions
I am always gratified by my work with Susan as she encourages me to talk about anything that is bothering me or making me the person I am and I respect and appreciate her feedback tremendously.
I have been working with Susan for about 10 months. She is kind, compassionate and interested in your growth. I enjoy my time with her.
Having been a client of Susan's from time-to-time over six years, I've found her therapy to be of great help: always helpful and insightful, very practical and delivered in a warm, human and even sometimes fun professional manner. She always has made time for me in whatever way possible when in crisis, and I've developed and benefitted from seeing her.
