Healthy Living Group : A DBT based interpersonal group for individuals hoping to reduce self-harm in daily life. This DBT based in-person group not only focuses on reducing self-harming behaviors--including all types of eating disorders, addictions, cutting, or any behavioral patterns interfering with the potential to live life with a measure of effectiveness--but is also particularly appropriate for individuals seeking to navigate chronic interpersonal difficulties that have served as impediments to happiness and success. Every Friday, 12 week program, 5-6pm West Village office Each week we not only learn essential DBT skills, but also ask group members to share interpersonal processes and dynamics in order to learn how to best implement the learned skills into daily living. Sylvia Martinez is a psychotherapist, working at the office of Dr Justin Jones in New York, NY. She welcomes anyone who is looking to explore ways to improve their quality of life, whether due to life transitions, relationship conflicts, or managing emotional challenges. Through consistent and committed work together, she helps clients recognize the root of where troubling patterns have begun and develop strategies to help gain balance, strength, and personal fulfillment. She has over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with various struggles, including managing depression, anxiety, personality disorders, transitions, psychosis, trauma, and chronic mental illness. She offers traditional talk therapy as well as art therapy to foster insight and reflection. She received her Master's degree in Art Therapy from Drexel University and is a board certified art psychotherapist and a licensed state creative arts therapist in New York State. While trained in psychodynamic theory, she uses an eclectic approach to meet each client where they're at and incorporates both verbal and nonverbal methods in sessions. She has extensive experience working with groups and individuals in hospitals, outpatient settings and families in the foster care system.
