What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide support, guidance, and perspective as we work together toward your goals. I strive to create an environment where you feel safe to be yourself, explore difficult emotions, and speak openly without fear of judgment. I understand that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, and I place great importance on building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I believe that feeling understood and accepted is an essential part of the healing process. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, I aim to meet you with curiosity, compassion, and respect. My work integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches depending on each client's unique needs. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, psychodynamic therapy, and narrative approaches. When helpful, I also incorporate creative and reflective techniques to support self-expression and deeper insight. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to the individual sitting in front of me. Some clients benefit from developing practical coping skills and strategies, while others are seeking a deeper understanding of longstanding patterns, relationships, or emotional experiences. Often, therapy includes both. My hope is that therapy becomes a space where you feel supported in exploring who you are, understanding what has shaped you, and identifying what you need in order to move forward with greater confidence, self-compassion, and authenticity.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The beginning of therapy is focused on getting to know you and understanding what has brought you into treatment. During our first several sessions, we will spend time building rapport and establishing a foundation of trust. I recognize that therapy is a deeply personal process, and I believe it is important for clients to feel comfortable, respected, and understood before diving into more vulnerable work. The assessment phase is an opportunity for me to learn about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, strengths, and goals. Together, we will explore what challenges you are facing, how they may be impacting your life, and what changes you hope to make through therapy. I also take time to understand the broader context of your experiences, including important life events, family dynamics, cultural influences, and patterns that may be contributing to your current struggles. As we develop a clearer understanding of your needs, we will work collaboratively to determine what therapeutic approach feels most supportive and effective for you. Some clients benefit from skill-building and coping strategies, while others may want to focus on processing emotions, exploring past experiences, or gaining insight into recurring patterns. Therapy is not a rigid process, and we will continually assess what feels most helpful as your needs evolve. Throughout treatment, I view our work as a partnership. We will regularly check in about your goals, progress, and experience in therapy to ensure that our work remains aligned with what matters most to you. My goal is to provide a supportive, thoughtful, and individualized therapeutic experience that helps you feel more connected to yourself, your values, and the life you want to create.
