ID
I have worked in therapeutic settings for 19 years in a myriad of roles, from direct client care to program development. I have been a therapist for 8 years, and most of my experience is rooted in adventure therapy, working with pre-adolescents, adolescents, and their parents. Clients I have worked with may be living with anxiety, ADHD, depression, or have trauma in their lives. They may be living with neurodiversity or a learning difference. These are good people who may feel stuck in life or need support working through a life transition. I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University.

Getting to know Ted Bost

I have worked in therapeutic settings for 19 years in a myriad of roles, from direct client care to program development. I have been a therapist for 8 years, and most of my experience is rooted in adventure therapy, working with pre-adolescents, adolescents, and their parents. Clients I have worked with may be living with anxiety, ADHD, depression, or have trauma in their lives. They may be living with neurodiversity or a learning difference. These are good people who may feel stuck in life or need support working through a life transition. I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In therapy I believe that assessment and treatment are ongoing processes. My number goal is to be helpful and I want you to be able to become your own "therapist"-what I mean by that is I want you to know yourself and what you need as a person to take care of yourself as best you can. I believe that knowledge is power and it is important that people understand a bit of their own psychology. My experience is most people are already somewhat aware this and it can be helpful to talk through some of this. I am curious and want to understand or I can just listen. Again, my number one goal is to be helpful. I have done quite a bit of therapy myself and I believe it is important for a therapist to engage in their own self-exploration.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Initially, I want to get to know you and assess what you need. If you do not know what you need that is okay too. And, sometimes we change our minds about what we need too. So at first, we are just getting to know each other. We may determine that just listening would be the course of action or we may decide to develop goals for personal growth. My experience, again, is that the journey and process are fluid and often changing. Eventually, we will decide what "finishing" therapy will look like and create an ending plan. You can also wrap up things anytime you want too. As I mentioned, my number one goal is to be helpful.
