Looking to improve your sport or mental performance? Better understand your gender, sexuality, or relationship identity? Process a history of trauma? Our stories are our greatest power, yet they can be difficult to share. I am a Clinical Sport Psychologist with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wyoming and completed my fellowship at CSU Health and Medical Center. I encourage clients to tell their stories—yes, even the difficult parts—as accurately and meaningfully as possible to pave a path forward. I also recognize that not all mental health concerns are individually determined and encourage clients to explore the impact of their social, intergenerational, and environmental histories and resources to promote healing and growth.

Getting to know Tess Kilwein

Looking to improve your sport or mental performance? Better understand your gender, sexuality, or relationship identity? Process a history of trauma? Our stories are our greatest power, yet they can be difficult to share. I am a Clinical Sport Psychologist with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wyoming and completed my fellowship at CSU Health and Medical Center. I also recognize that not all mental health concerns are individually determined and encourage clients to explore the impact of their social, intergenerational, and environmental histories and resources to promote healing and growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Presenting concerns include trauma/PTSD, addiction, sex, masculinity, and sport/mental performance. Specialize in athletes, performers, healthcare and business professionals/executives, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, and ENM populations. Also offer gender affirming evaluation/letters for medical care access, FFA, military, and USOPC participation/clearance.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Contacting a therapist can be daunting, especially if you are holding on to painful memories or have experienced marginalization. My treatments are feminist-, multicultural-, and liberation-informed and I am active in creating a non-judgmental, anti-racist, and decolonized therapy experience for clients with a variety of lived experiences and identities.
