Theresa Hayes, LMHCA

Theresa Hayes, LMHCA

Psychotherapist
WA
My name is Theresa Hayes, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University – New England (Keene, NH). As a parent myself, I have firsthand experience with the struggles inherent in this role. It can often feel like such an isolating experience, especially when faced with societal expectations around what a "good" parent is. My hope is to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you don't have to be the perfect parent. All you have to do is show up and be open to learning. While I mostly work with parents, I also enjoy supporting individuals who have a history of trauma or overwhelming life events. My clients tend to appreciate my self-disclosure around the difficulties I've experienced-and continue to experience-with raising my son. One of my personal goals with every session is ensuring that you leave knowing you are not alone in your struggles around parenting. My approach: I primarily operate from the Trauma-Informed Stabilization Model, which incorporates mindfulness, parts work (Internal Family Systems or IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Through this model, I will help you fundamentally change the way you relate to your traumatic past. I am also currently in training to become a Level 2 Certified Trauma Professional. I am LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity affirming.
