Becoming a mental health provider stemmed from a personal journey of self-discovery and healing. In seeking to fix myself first, I found a passion for the tools and strategies that promote well-being. This journey not only led to my own growth and resilience but also ignited a commitment to help others navigate their struggles. By combining personal insight with professional knowledge, I aim to empower individuals on their paths to healing, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment where transformation can take place. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Kentucky University, which has equipped me with the skills to support individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction concerns. I am also passionate about aiding those grappling with relationship difficulties, including adult children who seek to reshape their relationship with their parents. I work alongside my clients in a collaborative effort to establish treatment goals that are effective and authentic to you. To address your unique needs, I draw upon a range of modalities such as motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and EMDR. Together, we will work toward finding effective solutions that promote personal growth and healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our journey together, the first step we will take is talk therapy (psychotherapy). Through this process, I will work with you to identify the treatment modality that best suits your needs. Our goal will be to address and transform troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Talk therapy provides a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your inner world. It offers a space for self-reflection, understanding, and growth. I will utilize evidence-based techniques tailored to your unique circumstances, helping you gain insights, develop coping strategies, and facilitate positive change. Together, we will navigate the complexities of your experiences and work towards enhancing your mental and emotional resilience. Skill building and psychoeducation are essential tools that I also provide to support your growth. My ultimate objective throughout your therapy journey is to empower you towards independence. It is my hope that you will leave therapy equipped with an array of effective strategies and the self-assurance to navigate any future challenges that may arise. Additionally, I may incorporate homework assignments to facilitate your development, enabling you to make progress beyond our sessions. Lastly, there is an extensive body of research that delves deep into exploring the efficacy of incorporating mindfulness practices into the treatment of mood disorders and the management of physical symptoms. This wealth of evidence has strongly influenced my approach, leading me to integrate mindfulness techniques into my treatment protocols. My ultimate goal is to empower you to embrace mindfulness in a way that resonates with you personally, whether that means fully immersing yourself in yoga and meditation practices or simply adopting a handful of mindfulness skills to effectively navigate and alleviate stress in your daily life.
