Psychotherapist
WA
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specialized in the treatment of trauma for people ages 19 and older. I was called to this career after witnessing the profound healing impact that counseling provided, and still provides, to me. I know very well what it feels like to sit in the client seat, which affords me great empathy for you as I witness your journey. I have a professional and educational background in research science which greatly influences the work I do and the presence of psychoeducation in my work with clients. I identify as a queer woman, am a mother to two beautiful children, a wife to a wonderful man, a perpetual dreamer, outdoors enthusiast, art and music lover, and am grateful to be a resident of the beautiful state of Washington. I want to help you heal your trauma. When I speak of trauma I am not only speaking of PTSD, but any experience that has led to suffering in your mind and body: causing you to lose touch your wellness, with your sense of worth and hope, or your sense of empowerment. In my years of practice, I have found that there are many ways to find wellness in the mind, body and spirit. Each journey of healing that I have had the honor to facilitate has looked different, and yours will too. Within the safety of a confidential, trustworthy, healthy therapeutic relationship I aim to provide you the keys for unlocking what you need to heal and to thrive. I bring a presence of warm compassion, curiosity, authenticity, humor, patience, respect, honesty, and safety to my work. I use a variety of interventions and tools to help you navigate your healing journey such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapies (MBCT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Grief Counseling (I am certified via the MISS Foundation to provide Compassionate Bereavement Care), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma Informed Yoga, Breathwork, and Creative therapies.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I come to each session prepared to try ideas that work for YOU. I will never expect you to tell me what we’re doing in our session. This ain't your grandma's talk-therapy. I use EMDR, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapies, trauma-focused yoga, and expressive therapies to give us the tools and flashlights needed for exploring the depths of your inner world.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After the initial intake sessions, we will be meeting on a regular basis to make progress towards the goals you set for yourself initially. If we are focusing on trauma resolution I recommend weekly or twice weekly sessions to truly facilitate your healing process with thoroughness and safety. Your work will likely include between session tasks and intentions that will be your responsibility to complete to the best of your ability. Your commitment to carrying out the work we do in session and between session will determine the success of your counseling experience. We will keep track of how you are doing in decreasing the symptoms that bring you to counseling and increasing progress toward the goals you have set for yourself. Once you have reached a place that feels like success, we will determine the best next steps for you before we bring our counseling journey to a close.
