Getting to know Tina Simpson

It takes 20 seconds of insane courage, and I promise you, something good will come of it. Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, relationships, confidence, identity, or more, I listen with an unbiased, nonjudgmental yet affirming ear as we work together to identify and pursue your goals. A high percentage of people who seek therapy find healthy communication within their network greatly lacking. Whether it involves setting boundaries, consequences, being assertive, or improving listening skills, communicating effectively can be the single most fundamental tool for healing and forward movement. Your struggles are real and overwhelming. I am here to help you see light at the end of the tunnel, hope in tomorrow, and confidence as you look in the mirror. You matter. You are enough. You are worthy. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Colorado State University and am committed to providing affirming care. Communities honored include, but are not limited to: LGBTQIA+ affirming, gender identity affirming, and autism.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I will to listen to you as you share your pain and life experience. Once I have a concrete understanding of your struggles and area of growth desired I will use evidence best practice (EBP). Evidenced Based Therapy - EBP: There is no therapeutic approach that is a one size fits all. In my professional experience, most of us suffer from cognitive distortions/rumination/thoughts that don't serve us well/stories we tell ourselves in our heads/worst case scenario/castrophization. Due to this, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - CBT frequently in my practice to help you change distorted thinking into thoughts that serve a positive purpose in your life. I also utilize Person Centered; Trauma Focused; Motivational Interviewing; Mindfulness Based and a long host more. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - CBT to help you identify cognitive distortions (ruminating, repeat, and hyper-fixation thoughts), aka thoughts that don't serve you well. We will then restructure/reframe those thoughts together. With time and consistency you will then have a learned skill to help you navigate day to day life in a healthier and happier way. CBT interventions include but are not limited to: Fact vs Opinion Catastrophizing Black & White Thinking Gray Area of Thinking Errored Thinking Negative Thought Patterns Exposure Therapy Narrative Therapy (trauma based) and more... CBT is extremely useful for: Communication Boundary Setting Anxiety Social anxiety Trauma Grief Goal Setting Overwhelm Burnout Friendships Family Intimate Relationships Dating Stress Life Transitions Academia Professional Atmosphere Anger Management Sensory Overload and more... I will give you action steps, at the end of each session, that you and I have agreed to, to help you achieve your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

ACTIONABLE STEPS: You will leave each and every session with actionable steps/homework/handouts to review, practice, implement, reflect on between sessions. Next sessions we will reflect your weeks high/low points. What did/didn't go well. Do we need to utilize another approach? I will help you accumulate individual "Skill Set" which is unique to you & comes from the action step items YOU have found work best for you. I will keep track of them for you until they become habit forming for you. AFTER you schedule your appointment and BEFORE we can have our remote appointment, steps 1 & 2 MUST be completed: INVITES WILL BE SENT (by me) TO YOU, FROM: 1. HEADWAY, my billing portal, to upload insurance and payment option. 2. SIMPLE PRACTICE, where I store consent and intake forms. 3. Steps 1 & 2 MUST be complete 24-48 hours PRIOR to our appointment date. 4. I will reach out to you once I have sent the invites to include reminders. 5. If these steps are not complete within 24-48 hours and you are not responding to my messages, you may be at risk of your appointment being canceled or rescheduled.

The 30-minute intake session cost the same as a full 50-minute session, which was surprising. Considering that it was virtual therapy and the kind of support provided, I thought the price would be more fair. Even with my insurance helping out, the cost was higher compared to what I would've paid if I went to a therapist out of network. It felt like the therapist was not very involved, and there wasn't much personal connection. I wouldn't suggest this to anyone I know.

Tina is wonderful! She is a good listener and full of good insight and perspective. She is kind and easy to open up to and makes herself someone to count on and rely on. I often leave leave sessions with a shifted perception of what I’m working through, and that helps move my thinking in a more positive and productive direction. Highly recommend!
Tina is great at letting me share at my own pace and guiding me to understand what is going on. She is flexible in regarding our discussion topics and she is responsive to comments and questions outside of our scheduled sessions.
Tina is flexible and will schedule you as soon as possible. She is responsive, always willing to be there when needed and someone I trust and highly recommend.
Tina is very professional and compassionate. She offers tremendous support that helps you work through whatever you’re going through.
She is amazing! The absolute best therapist I have seen. She provides amazing coping skills and a level of understanding I’ve never experienced with a therapist. She has lots of materials to help provide insight into situations as well.
