What should a new client know about working with you?

I play an active role in the therapeutic process, providing feedback and encouragement. I believe that it is through gaining insight into reasons for behavior, correcting negative thoughts and setting achievable goals that people are able to make positive changes in their lives. I am a licensed clinical social worker/psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience who specializes in individual therapy. I work with older adolescents and adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, bereavement and relationships issues. I have been successful in helping people work through difficult transitions, improve self esteem, and resolve both relationship and parenting issues. I obtained my MSW from NYU in 1992 and received additional training at the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services in-service program in 2000. I have worked at mental health clinics within school and hospital settings and have been in private practice for 20 years.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I combine psychodynamic and behavioral therapies, believing it is important to focus on present goals while developing an understanding of how the past continues to impact current functioning, beliefs and behavior.
