“This is my first time using a therapist so I was happy to hit it off with her from the start. I enjoy and look forward to our talks. There are days when I'm not up for it but I do it anyway and leave the session with more clarity and awareness. She's very easy to talk to and available.”

Getting to know Toria Caton

Hello, my name is Toria Caton, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New York and available via telehealth. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Yeshiva University. I specialize in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and family challenges, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy to help clients understand their emotions and make progress. My approach to therapy varies based on each client's needs. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality. I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults, teens, and young adults who may be dealing with life transitions and social pressures. I work to help my clients navigate these periods and build skills that allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life. My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. As a young girl, I was always that trusted and loyal friend. I was raised in a large Hispanic family where everyone was in the helping field. This was my foundation, and I have always naturally been drawn to helping people. My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust between us and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. In our first session, I may explore your past to gain a better understanding but do not stay there. The first session is about building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
