Getting to know Trevor Milazzo
Hello I hope the day finds you well!, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 11 years experience in mental health. having a Master’s Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Direct Practice from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2020; My work experience includes residential treatment facilities , county government, community behavioral rehabilitation services (basic skills training & psychosocial rehab), partial hospitalization program in which I gained experience working with individuals (children/adults), families, and groups. I hold a certification in Solution Focused Brief Therapy with a focus on Identifying what one wants to achieve through identification of strengths and current resources. I also pull from modalities such as Cognitive behavioral, Transference Focused , and mindfulness ). I have completed extensive trainings in trauma, and am a member of the ATSA (Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse).
I am originally from the Bronx, New York and spent time working in the service industry here In Las Vegas, Nevada working in Day & Night Clubs; Eventually I transitioned into the restaurant side with the Tao group ( or Tao Family, as I affectionately call them) for 8 years while in pursuit of education. I believe that healing is dependent on the commitment to change by client, attending behavior of clinician, the strength of therapeutic relationship & psychoeducation for both client and practitioner. Each participant (Client ) in the therapeutic process comes with their own set of unique , complexed, life experiences and current challenges. As the therapist it is my role to provide a safe container to collaborate with the participant in identifying their issues, wants, needs, goals, eventually discovering the why. I offer support in the grief , loss, emotional regulation, self -harm reduction , stabilizing sense of self / relationships, enhancing sense of safety .
What should a new client know about working with you?
I have a non-judgmental empathic approach. My therapy style is free flowing & person centered. The goal is to develop some insights and identify the impact of current challenges. I am also adaptable providing structure for those who advocate for it.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I offer free consultation. Following free consultation if one decides they would like to move forward with services first session will consist of information gathering through what we call a "Bio-Psychosocial Assessment to identify if there are any biological, psychological, or social interactions which contribute challenges or may assist in furthering self exploration. Following the assessment we will begin to build rapport to create sense of safety. It can be difficult to share the intricate parts of one's experience with a "stranger" so rapport is essential.
