Getting to know Tyvon Foster

For many of us, we experience trauma or otherwise harmful events that impact our mental health significantly. Often times it makes people doubt their worth, question if they matter, or makes them uncontrollably angry. Because of the trauma faced, it became difficult to build and maintain a life that's fulfilling. There's often one question that remains, "How I do stop this cycle and get to the other side? Is there another side?" I'm here to tell you, there is. I dedicate my services to those struggling with depression, anxiety, and anger who deeply desire to know their worth, love themselves, create the relationships they want, and be the person they were always meant to be. My approach is person centered and solution focused. This means that I believe you have the ability to be your best self at all times, although it may not feel like it. I also understand that for many people, taking action directly translates as "I'm going somewhere" or " progress is being made". Together, the actions that we take are directly aligned with your goals. Everyone works at their own pace, so for me, it's important to get a full understanding of where you are and work from there. The best outcomes of therapy are rooted in a relationship that's real, honest, accountable, and trusting. Let's begin today so you can see the other side.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach can best be described by the following: Collaborative: Patiently listening, getting an in-depth and thorough understanding of where you are and want to be, and then developing specific tools that you find makes the most sense for you Informative: Explaining psychological concepts, theories, and tools while also learning how to understand yourself. Solution Focused: Using your values and emotional needs to guide your behavior towards therapeutic goals. Experiential: Showing you the interventions effectiveness while explaining it step by step.

What a caring and accepting therapist! I’m never sure what to expect when meeting with a new doctor, but he was completely accepting of my sexuality as well as gender identity. He didn’t make me feel that there is anything wrong with me, quite the opposite- he acknowledged that my anxiety is real but can be helped. I didn’t leave feeling like I was a diagnosis, he saw me as a person. I had the full hour for my appointment. I will be returning.
Tyvon was wonderful! He made me feel so comfortable. I’d never been to therapy before but be let me know what the intake process would be like and let me know that it’s okay to not feel comfortable to open up about everything right away. He was very thorough at the intake. He tools notes on all of my symptoms, history, and goals that I want to pursue in therapy. He even gave me some exercises to practice on my own.
Definitely helpful
Amazing therapist
Apart from offering great insights and being a caring therapist, I feel inspired to be working with such a hardworking young man. I think Tyvon is a great role model for the younger generation and has a lot of great knowledge to share. I look forward to our sessions.
I have a lot of respect for Tyvon. He gives me practical advice but doesn’t force me to do anything. He goes at the pace I need to go at.
Reliable, trustworthy, and always on time. There is no better person to work with for anger management than Tyvon. He makes you feel comfortable to express yourself and is empowering rather than judging. I’d recommend him to anyone.
Great counselor, I feel good every time I leave.
