Remember this scene from a movie: picture a peaceful airplane ride turning turbulent. The plane starts losing altitude rapidly. The flight attendant urgently instructs you to "put your oxygen mask on first" before helping others. This simple but critical statement is just as important in our everyday lives. Taking time for yourself without being selfish can be challenging for anyone who tends to prioritize others' needs. I'm an intuitive and empathic therapist. I aim to keep our focus on the present, with an awareness of the past and hope for the future. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings, decisions, choices, wants, and needs in your therapy. I will assist you in finding your voice and help you to "put your oxygen mask on first." I have extensive experience working with the Black community, other communities of color, and the LGBTQ and Non-Binary communities. I support adults, teens, individuals, and couples from all cultural backgrounds. Everyone is welcome! My therapeutic approach is relational, supportive, empathetic, conversational, and collaborative. I will challenge you to be an active partner in therapy and work toward ongoing insight, growth, and positive change. Trust and respect are essential aspects of a good therapeutic relationship. I encourage self-exploration, self-expression, and transformation, whether you seek therapy for yourself, your teen, or your partner. We may use various theoretical approaches such as Cognitive Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Affirmative Therapy, and Attachment-based therapy. We can address issues important to you, such as anxiety, depression, cultural identities, and trauma. I would be happy to arrange an initial consultation with you to explore working together. I am licensed in California, Kansas, and Texas and am limited to only seeing clients within the boundaries of those states.
