Valerie A Capalbo, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I have always loved getting to know people, hearing their stories, and understanding how they think and view the world. I knew I wanted to work in a field where I could help others, and that desire, along with my personal experiences with my own therapist, led me to clinical social work. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the State University of New York, Albany. Since then, I have worked in hospital, agency, and residential settings. My own personal therapy has helped me immensely, fueling my passion to support others in resolving their issues and improving their quality of life, just as mine has been improved. I believe change is always possible, no matter how entrenched you may feel in your current situation. Change is possible, and together, we can work to achieve it.

Getting to know Valerie A Capalbo

I have always loved getting to know people, hearing their stories, and understanding how they think and view the world. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the State University of New York, Albany. Since then, I have worked in hospital, agency, and residential settings. My own personal therapy has helped me immensely, fueling my passion to support others in resolving their issues and improving their quality of life, just as mine has been improved. What should a new client know about working with you?

My intake process is when we start to get to know each other. It is when you decide if we are a good fit and will work well together. It will be more of a conversation about your history and what brought you to therapy. At the start of therapy, we will set goals based on your individual needs and wants and we will work together to achieve those goals. Sometimes, we don’t notice progress because it is hard to remember what things were like before. I think it is important to note progress as it occurs, and I will point progress out to you as we go. I will assign homework from time to time if I believe it will be helpful and further the therapeutic process. I love to work with anyone looking to make a positive change in their life.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
