Hello, I'm Valerie. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with an M.Ed in Counseling from Colorado State University, I believe that curiosity and loving-kindness have the power to create healthy change. My approach is to honor your inherent healthiness and work together to take an honest, non-judgmental look at how and why you do what you do. Whether you're experiencing PTSD, trauma, grief, loss, depression, anxiety, divorce, co-dependency, addiction, shame, career issues, or simply longing for self-care and empowerment, you have choices and I am here to support you in making them. I specialize in contemplative psychological methods including EMDR, Brainspotting, Hakomi, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and PACT. My experience includes leading bereavement groups for Hospice and teaching as a faculty member at Naropa University. For many years, I have been a mindfulness-and-awareness practitioner, teaching courses on Contemplative Psychology, Trauma, Somatic Therapy, Mindfulness and Awareness, Buddhist Psychology, and Career Counseling. In our sessions, I strive to be straightforward and supportive, helping you become brave enough to weather personal storms, tender enough to be vulnerable, resilient enough to succeed, and confident enough to trust your own wisdom. I take UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Anthem Insurance, Aetna, and Kaiser, though I am unable to take Medicare. May you appreciate your unique life and gifts while weathering the storms of being human. If you're ready to explore your choices and work towards a healthier, more empowered you, I invite you to reach out. Let's take this journey together.
