Virginia Nielsen, LPC

Psychotherapist
VA
Hello, I'm Virginia. I've been passionate about mental health since 2010, starting my career by working with clients with developmental disorders and Autism. My early work involved teaching life skills and behavioral management, which laid a strong foundation for my approach to therapy today. In 2012, I expanded my focus to include children and families, providing support within home and community settings. This included teaching behavioral techniques and coping skills, offering parenting guidance, and assisting with 504 plans in collaboration with school districts. I completed my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling in 2016, which allowed me to broaden my practice to include adults, running therapeutic groups, and conducting intakes. Over the years, I've gained extensive experience working with a variety of issues, including addictions, depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and personality disorders. I am equipped to work with most diagnoses, ensuring a comprehensive approach to mental health care. My therapeutic approach is versatile and tailored to each client's unique needs and cultural background. I commonly use person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Biblical counseling, motivational interviewing, and art therapy. I believe in the importance of monitoring progress, so I use assessments every three months along with client surveys to ensure we are on the right track. My goal is to provide a supportive and understanding environment where you feel heard and empowered to make positive changes. If you're ready to take the next step in your mental health journey, I'm here to help. Let's work together to find the best path forward for you.
