Most recently, she presented on the Neurobiology of Addiction at a Women In Recovery retreat, exploring brain science, attachment theory, and hope for healing. Her experience includes working with families through child abuse and neglect services at DSS, offering counseling, guidance, monitoring, and support. She provided treatment, support, and referrals to children, adolescents, adults, and families at Charter and MUSC psychiatric hospitals. As part of the psychiatric emergency response team, she consulted with physicians in emergency rooms to assist patients in crisis. Wendy also spent 10 years as a school counselor at a local Catholic school, dedicating one day each week to leading groups and collaborating with parents, students, and teachers. She has designed and led groups addressing domestic violence, substance abuse, anger management, criminal thinking, parenting skills, and bullying. Wendy is a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist and enjoys working with couples. She has also trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy under Sue Johnson, PhD, the founder of EFT.
