Psychotherapist
AZ
Hi, I'm Wes! As your therapist, my goal is to help you become the best version of yourself. I believe that life's experiences teach us things about the world that may no longer be helpful or true today, even if they were true in the past. When we don't adapt and remain flexible, we can find ourselves tangled in a web of mistaken beliefs, thinking errors, and unresolved life problems. This can make it challenging to navigate and manage life's current challenges. I love being present when my clients discover new ways and authentically experience change. I've had the privilege of working with clients from many walks of life and with varied needs. My areas of expertise include addiction, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, family relationships, grief and bereavement, intimate and romantic relationships, life transitions, military and veteran support, psychosis and schizophrenia, PTSD, sex and intimacy issues, spirituality, stress, and trauma. I use a Cognitive Behavioral and Humanistic approach to help my clients bring out the best in themselves. I like to use humor, challenging questions, and a direct approach because I believe that in counseling, we should get to the point and have fun doing it. When I'm not at work, I enjoy exploring and appreciating the outdoors through hiking, backpacking, and camping. I also love spending time with my family and trying new and exciting restaurants. I graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago with a double major Bachelor of Arts in Counseling and Biblical Studies, and I completed a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. I understand that selecting a therapist on a platform like SonderMind can be difficult because it's not easy to know exactly what you're getting into. Questions like, 'Will this guy really know what he's talking about? Is he a total quack? Will he actually be able to help me?' are normal. It's my hope that we will make a great team and that you will become that better version of yourself you're searching for.
