What should a new client know about working with you?

What others call symptoms, I tend to see as sacred messengers and work with you to see if we can unlock their message. In many ways, our work together is a journey to better understand the messages your body is telling you about your life. Too many times we try to push these messengers away and this only serves to make them get larger and louder. When we finally listen to the message, we can then be informed by our thoughts and feelings, instead of being controlled by them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I meet with clients for 55-ish minutes. The first session is a little clunky because I'll be verifying your identity, making sure we have all the demographics correct, explaining about therapy, and asking a bunch of questions to get to know your situation. Future sessions are laser focused on helping you reach your goals and usually have 3 parts. The first part of the session is a check-in on your symptoms and any significant life events that occurred since the last session. The middle of the session will be focused on the exercises and experiments you've been working on since the last appointment. The last part of the session is focused on identifying your next steps and planning our follow up sessions. The sessions tend to be action-oriented and my goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard and that you know what your next step is.
