“Dr. Winston Ho-Sue is a patient, honest, and mindful therapist. He helped me through very difficult times, especially the past two years. I was fortunate to have Dr. Winston as a counselor in place when I lost my father. Dr. Winston's education and years of experience showed through by how me stepped me through the grieving process, not to mention I also lost family members from covid. It was a devastating time. We also discussed my goals: family, career and relationships. I strongly feel that the sessions helped me achieve a better position with another company, and I was able to recognize my stress-we talked about how was I going to accomplish these changes. His cultural approach/awareness was another bonus, and it was much appreciated. I couldn't recommend Dr. Winston more!”

Getting to know Winston Ho-sue

A strengths-based therapist with experience working with young adults, adults, and families, I support clients navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, and a wide range of other mental health challenges. I hold a Master's in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University, which informs my holistic approach to treatment. I consider all areas of my clients' lives-history, relationships, spiritual life, culture, occupation, and more-to fully understand who they are. I deeply honor the gift of each client's efforts and vulnerability in seeking help and support.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s important that you feel comfortable and supported throughout the process. I prioritize creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can openly share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My approach is collaborative and person-centered, meaning we work together to understand your goals and move at a pace that feels right for you. I value vulnerability, respect, and confidentiality, and I tailor each session to meet your unique needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting — part of the work is exploring and gaining clarity together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is designed to help you feel comfortable with being uncomfortable. Being able to challenge unhelpful thoughts, behaviors and patterns and build meaningful progress over time. Self-work can be challenging, so though your mental health journey may not feel good all the time, it will be worth it in the end. 1. Initial Intake Session We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your background, and what you’re hoping to get out of our work together. This is also a chance for you to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit. 2. Goal Setting Together, we identify goals that are important to you — whether that’s managing anxiety, improving relationships, processing past experiences, or building coping skills. 3. Ongoing Sessions In regular sessions, we explore challenges, identify patterns, and develop practical strategies. I use evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs. 4. Check-Ins & Adjustments We periodically review your progress and adjust goals or approaches as needed to make sure therapy continues to feel helpful and relevant. 5. Closure or Transition When you feel ready, we’ll work toward ending therapy in a thoughtful way or transitioning to less frequent sessions, ensuring you feel confident moving forward.
