Life can feel overwhelming, especially when anxiety, past experiences, grief, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions begin to affect your sense of well-being. Therapy offers a space to slow down, better understand yourself, and move toward meaningful, lasting change. I'm Wioletta Kamrat-Peters, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the founder of Violet Light Mental Health Counseling. I provide trauma-informed, evidence-based psychotherapy to adults and couples throughout New York. My approach is integrative and depth-oriented, meaning we look beyond surface symptoms to understand the emotional, relational, and experiential patterns contributing to distress. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels collaborative and respectful, strengthening emotional awareness, resilience, and practical coping skills while creating space for deeper insight and personal growth. Whether you're seeking support during a difficult chapter or hoping to create lasting change, my goal is to provide a warm, affirming environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward with greater clarity, balance, and confidence.

Life can feel overwhelming, especially when anxiety, past experiences, grief, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions begin to affect your sense of well-being. What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is a collaborative, supportive, and engaging process. I believe therapy is most effective when you feel genuinely heard, respected, and comfortable enough to explore both the challenges you're facing and the strengths you already possess. During our sessions, I'll ask thoughtful questions, offer observations and feedback, and help you recognize patterns that may be contributing to your current struggles. Together, we'll deepen your understanding of yourself while developing practical tools and strategies you can apply in everyday life. Because every person's story is unique, I tailor therapy to your individual needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. We move at a pace that feels right for you, with the goal of creating meaningful, lasting change both inside and outside of therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy begins with getting to know you—your concerns, personal history, relationships, strengths, and the goals that bring you to therapy. Together, we'll develop a shared understanding of what's contributing to your current challenges and identify meaningful goals for our work together. As therapy progresses, sessions are tailored to your individual needs. Depending on your goals, we may explore underlying patterns, process difficult emotions or past experiences, strengthen coping skills, improve communication and relationships, or develop new ways of responding to life's challenges. Throughout the process, we'll regularly reflect on your progress and adjust our approach as your needs evolve. Therapy isn't about having all the answers right away. It's a process of gaining greater self-awareness, building emotional resilience, and creating meaningful changes that support your long-term well-being.
