Psychotherapist
303 Fifth Ave, Ste 901, New York, NY
Hello, I am Xuena (Grace) Cui, a licensed mental health counselor based in New York State. I provide therapy in both Mandarin and English. I graduated from Columbia University counseling psychology program in the US and hold a master’s degree in pharmacology from China. Before becoming a mental health counselor, I worked for 10 years, bringing valuable life experience to my practice. My therapy approach is integrated and holistic, blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-centered Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Therapy. I also incorporate principles of neuroscience and brain health to help clients understand the significant role diet, sleep, and physical activity play in mental well-being. Utilizing evidence-based interventions, I aim to address symptoms and uncover the root causes of distress to facilitate deep and lasting healing. My specializations include treating depression, anxiety, anger issues, low self-esteem, relationship and family issues, and career-related concerns. In my clinical experience, I have had the honor of working with clients aged 6 to 76 from diverse cultural backgrounds. Depending on individual needs, I may incorporate Christian principles or Buddhist philosophy into therapy. I also sometimes recommend relevant books or films to support my clients' growth outside of counseling. My therapeutic style is warm, empowering, and supportive, striking a balance between being directive and gentle. I believe everyone has an innate ability to heal. I am here to help you uncover your hidden strengths and guide you toward self-healing and a more vibrant, fulfilling life. I believe that the mental and energy levels of the therapist can subtly impact clients. To balance work and life, I embrace the calming influence of nature by going to the beach, gardening, practicing yoga, reading, writing, cooking, or simply taking walks in the park.
