Yamini Bollineni, MS

Psychotherapist
NY
My professional development has been shaped by the belief that effective counseling begins with nonjudgmental listening and creating a supportive therapeutic environment. After completing my MBBS in India, I gained experience working with diverse patient populations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I witnessed how empathetic communication and emotional support could significantly reduce fear and uncertainty, inspiring me to pursue a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. I have experience in private practice, working with adults and younger clients experiencing anxiety, life transitions, and emotional distress. My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy, combining evidence-based interventions with empathy and collaboration. I strive to help clients build self-awareness, recognize their strengths, and develop practical coping strategies while encouraging them to remain active participants in their treatment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am committed to practicing with cultural competence, humility, and respect for each client’s unique experiences. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals with anxiety, trauma-related concerns, and life transitions, while also promoting mental health awareness within Indian communities where stigma around counseling may persist. As I continue my professional development under supervision as a Limited Permit holder, I remain dedicated to providing ethical, culturally responsive, and evidence-based care while continuing to strengthen my clinical skills.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first session I will complete an intake assessment to gather as much information to better assess and get to know you, your history, and what concerns have brought you to therapy and therefore set up goals. The following sessions, we will engage in talk therapy while pulling from various modalities to help you achieve your goals. Our sessions are 45 min in length on a weekly basis. Please allow 15 minutes before the session to do the intake paperwork. I PROVIDE PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES ONLY; PLEASE NOTE I DON’T PROVIDE MEDICATION MANAGEMENT SERVICES.
