Yuchen (Aria) Li, MA

Psychotherapist
NY
I work with clients dealing with anxiety, stress, and burnout; relationship, family, and peer conflict; life transitions and grief; identity, self-esteem, and school- or women-related concerns; and building coping skills and emotional regulation. I was born and raised in East Asia and have lived in New York since college. That experience helps me understand what it feels like to be caught between two cultures, or to feel like you don't fully belong in either one. I grew up in a place where people didn't talk about mental health — it was something to hide. I saw how much that silence hurt people who needed help and didn't get it. That's why I do this work. I want people to have a place where they can be honest about what they're going through and get real support. I believe that when someone feels safe enough to be honest, healing can start — and everything else can grow from there.

Getting to know Yuchen (Aria) Li

What should a new client know about working with you?

I draw on cognitive-behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavior (DBT), trauma-informed, psychodynamic, relational, and person-centered approaches, adapting to what each client needs — whether that's concrete tools for managing what's right in front of you, or a slower, more relational space to understand and work through what's underneath it. New clients can expect a space that's collaborative and attuned — I'll ask questions that help us get specific about what's not working, and I'll also make room for what doesn't have an easy answer yet. Sessions move between reflection and practice depending on what's needed in the moment. Over time, clients can expect not just practical tools, but the kind of emotional support and relational healing that comes from being consistently seen and understood, along with more clarity on their own patterns and a stronger sense of their own voice.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first session I will complete an intake assessment to gather as much information to better assess and get to know you, your history, and what concerns have brought you to therapy and therefore set up goals. The following sessions, we will engage in talk therapy while pulling from various modalities to help you achieve your goals. Our sessions are 45 min in length on a weekly basis. Please allow 15 minutes before the session to do the intake paperwork. I PROVIDE PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES ONLY; PLEASE NOTE I DON’T PROVIDE MEDICATION MANAGEMENT SERVICES.
